Camera translators swap words in place — that's how you end up ordering “jumped noodles, grandmother style”. MenuSnapp translates the way a local would explain it: Carciofi alla Giudia becomes “Jewish-style artichoke”, but Cacio e Pepe stays Cacio e Pepe — its literal “cheese and pepper” moves into the description, where it helps you instead of renaming the dish. Photos are always labeled with where they came from — a diner's shot, a general photo of the dish, or an AI image in the app's house style. No pretending.

Found the dish you want but can't pronounce it? Tap the speaker and MenuSnapp says the original name out loud, with a written respelling in your own alphabet underneath (“KAH-choh eh PEH-peh”). Point, say it, order. Vegetarian and spicy badges show whether the menu printed them or the AI suggested them, so you know when to double-check with the staff.

How do I translate a restaurant menu with my phone?

Which languages can MenuSnapp translate?
MenuSnapp reads menus in 30 languages, including Italian, French, Spanish, Greek, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese and Arabic, and translates them into any of those 30. The app itself is available in 28 languages.
Does MenuSnapp work offline?
Scanning a menu needs an internet connection. Menus you have already scanned stay in History on your phone, and you can reopen them and switch currency without a connection.
How is it different from a camera translator?
Camera translators replace words one by one, which turns dish names into nonsense. MenuSnapp reads the menu as a menu: it keeps the names that should not be translated, explains what each dish actually is, keeps the menu's sections and converts every price.
Can I rely on the vegetarian and allergy information?
Vegetarian, vegan and spicy badges always show whether the menu itself printed them or the AI suggested them. Treat them as a guide, and for allergies always confirm with the staff.
Do I need an account?
No. You can scan menus and buy credits without signing up. Signing in with Apple or Google is optional and lets your purchases follow you to a new phone.
